Here are some easy ways to clean your microwave:
Method 1: Steam Cleaning
- Mix 1 cup of water with 2 tablespoons of vinegar or lemon juice in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Place the bowl in the microwave and cook on high for 3–5 minutes, or until the water is boiling.
- Let the bowl sit in the microwave for 5 minutes, or until the steam has had a chance to loosen the grime.
- Wipe down the inside of the microwave with a damp cloth.
Method 2: Dish Soap and Water
- Mix 1 tablespoon of dish soap with 1 cup of warm water in a bowl.
- Dip a sponge or cloth in the soapy water and wring it out until it is damp.
- Wipe down the inside of the microwave, paying special attention to any areas that are dirty or greasy.
- Rinse the sponge or cloth in clean water and wring it out again.
- Wipe down the inside of the microwave again to remove any soap residue.
Method 3: Baking soda
- Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda on the inside of the microwave.
- Pour 1 cup of water into a microwave-safe bowl and place it inside the microwave.
- Cook on high for 2-3 minutes, or until the water is boiling.
- Let the bowl sit in the microwave for 5 minutes, or until the steam has had a chance to loosen the grime.
- Wipe down the inside of the microwave with a damp cloth.
Tips
- To prevent food from splattering inside the microwave, place a damp paper towel on the turntable before cooking.
- If you have a microwave with a glass turntable, you can remove it and wash it in the dishwasher.
- If you have a microwave with a metal rack, you can remove it and hand wash it with soap and water.
- To clean the exterior of the microwave, use a damp cloth and mild dish soap.
- Wipe down the microwave regularly to prevent grime from building up.
